8th Grade End of Year Video

Welcome to our new Guidance Counselor

Beaufort Middle School welcomes our new guidance counselor, Christine Cox.

Mrs. Christine Cox began her career of service as a social worker in VA in 1994. It is during this time when she discovered how she could best combine her love of helping people with her passion for academics and helping youth with their educational journeys. Her early experience in social work is what led her to pursue a master’s in school counseling and launched her 20-year career as a school counselor. Mrs. Cox began her career as a middle school counselor in Virginia in 2000 and has worked in both the middle school and high school settings over the years.

In 2018 Mrs. Cox moved to Jacksonville, North Carolina following her husband’s retirement from federal service, where she accepted a middle school counselor position in Onslow County Schools. While she found her position at Onslow County extremely rewarding, Mrs. Cox has continually dreamed of moving back to Carteret County where she and her husband have owned a home for many years and where her husband spent a number of years working for N.C. Marine Fisheries in the 1990’s.

Both Mrs. Cox and her husband are eastern North Carolina natives and are extremely excited to be living in their “forever home” of Carteret County and she looks forward to spending the duration of her career with Carteret County Schools and in service of our community and our students. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time on the water with her family and dogs. She is also looking forward to cheering for her daughter who will be playing on the women’s basketball team at UNCP this fall.
