Welcome Our New Dean of Students: Mr. Aubrey Godette

Hi, I am Mr. Aubrey Godette, originally from Morehead City, North Carolina aka "Crystal Coast!" I enjoy our beautiful area and all that it has to offer. I must say, that the beach and the new shopping areas have been my favorite. While growing up in Morehead City, I matriculated through the Carteret County School System attending Morehead City Primary, Morehead Elementary School at Camp Glenn, Morehead City Middle School and graduated from West Carteret High School as a mighty patriot! In 2014, I graduated from North Carolina Central University of Durham with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in Science and currently enrolled at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC.

I believe that learning can be achieved by every student and that students and teachers should be challenged, engaged and prepared to excel.

A positive learning society where students  are engaged and held to the highest level of expectation! I also love to have fun and provide many creative experiences where students can be challenged and show their creativity.

‚ÄčAll in all, I believe in the power of learning and hold true the quote by Francis Bacon, "Knowledge is Power!"

The new Dean of Students position will include:

  • Enforcing building policies and procedures related to student attendance and discipline.
  • Planning and implementing preventative disciplinary measures through changes in programming, counseling, home visits, schedule changes, behavioral plans, etc.
  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of the school’s emergency preparedness program.
  • Organizing and coordinating academic intervention programs for students including working lunch and assigned study halls (during the elective period).
  • Assisting in the monitoring, inspection and supervision of school facilities.
  • LEAing for IEP meetings and assisting in test coordinator responsibilities.
  • Monitoring morning and afternoon arrival and dismissal of students.
  • Supporting instructional practices through walk-throughs, development and implementation of PD, and sustained support in PD to practice.

Welcome Our New EC Teacher: Ms. Amanda Clevenger

Ms. Amanda Clevenger was born in New Castle, PA. She was fortunate to live in various places around the world including Germany, Italy, Ohio, PA, Texas and North Carolina because her father was a member of the United States Army. Ms. Clevenger is a graduate of Western Harnett High School where she was a member of the Eagle basketball, volleyball, and softball teams. Ms. Clevenger is an alumnus of Fayetteville State University where she received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English Literature.  During her collegiate tenure, she was also a member of the Bronco volleyball and softball teams, a member of the English Honor Society, and she was awarded the 2001 CIAA athlete with the highest cumulative G.P.A.

Ms. Clevenger began her teaching career at Union Pines High School where she taught English Literature until 2013. She was also an Assistant Coach for the Viking softball, volleyball and basketball teams as well as the Club Advisor for the Creative Writing Club. While teaching, Ms. Clevenger earned her Ed.S in Educational Leadership from North Central University in Prescott, Arizona.  In 2014, she received her licensure to teach Exceptional Children. She taught EC at Union Pines High School until 2018 until her subsequent move to Carteret County in the summer of 2019.

Ms. Clevenger has a 13 year old daughter named Ava Marie Shaw who is her best friend. Together they love to hang out at the beach, binge watch Netflix shows like “Stranger Things” and eat endless amounts of sushi and Taco Bell Nacho Fries. They are both so excited to be living at the beach where they can enjoy fishing, riding on boats and attending church functions locally. Most importantly, they are even more excited to be together at Beaufort Middle School.

Welcome Our New 8th Grade Math and Math 1 Teacher Mrs. Williamson

Mrs. Catie Williamson grew up in Connecticut and attended 3 colleges before she finally transferred to NC and graduated from ECU (sometimes it takes longer than 4 years to figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life). She originally went to college in Boston for Fashion Design with the intention of being a middle school sewing teacher.

Mrs. Williamson taught at Broad Creek for 7.5 years. She looped up with a class to teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade math and science on a two man team. Ms. Williamson spent 1.5 years at Morehead Middle as an Instructional Technology Facilitator but returned to the classroom and spent the last two years teaching 8th grade math and math 1 at BCMS.

Mrs. Williamson lives in Emerald Isle with her husband, Todd (yes, THAT Mr. Williamson). They were blessed with a daughter in October of last year. Her name is Lucy and she is 9 months old.

Mrs. Williamson enjoys binge watching tv, dogs (sometimes more than humans), 90s music,  flair pens and all things Christmas.

Welcome Our New Media Coordinator and ITF: Hannah Whichard

Hello! I’m a Carteret County native, graduating from West Carteret in '98. After high school, I attended Appalachian State before transferring to UNC Wilmington, where my love of research and the past led me to pursue a bachelor’s in history education. I taught social studies for 10 years in Pitt and Greene County before moving back Carteret where I completed the MLS program at East Carolina. After working in an elementary library for the past two years I’m excited to be back with the big kids and I’m looking forward to getting to work with students and staff at BMS.

When I’m not working I enjoy cooking and hosting my family and friends. Whether I’m sitting on the beach or out on the boat I love being on the water and surrounded by the beauty of our area. If I’m not on the coast I’m most likely in the mountains pursuing a new passion, fly-fishing! I also love reading, traveling and new adventures.
