Beta Members your help is needed for Opening Day of the Olde Beaufort Farmers Market on Saturday, April 21st.   Opening day will be a celebration this year and BMS will have a booth showing off just how spectacular the Chargers are!  If you can help sign up for a 90 minute shift at Sign Up Genius

For those of you in need of school/group volunteer hours this is an excellent opportunity!!!!!

Also don't forget we are still looking for members to volunteer their time at our Fundraiser Dance on Friday, April 27th.  You can sign up for that event at

Clarification - New Traditions with Beta Club

As BMS moved from National Junior Honor Society affiliation to Junior Beta Club some of the organization practices have changed.  In prior years NJHS held a Spring Semester Induction Ceremony for new members.  Student eligibility for NJHS was evaluated based on academic performance from the first three quarters of the sixth grade year and students at the end of their sixth grade year were considered.

With the founding of a Junior Beta Club chapter at Beaufort Middle we began a new tradition of having our induction ceremonies in the Fall Semester.  This means that there will be no 2018 Spring Beta Club Induction Ceremony.*

Rather, at the beginning of the 2018-19 school year, the new 7th grade class as well as any transfer or newly eligible 8th grade students will be evaluated based on their cumulative grade point average for their middle school careers.  (I.E. Students in the class of 2024 will have their final 6th grade report card reviewed and students in the class of 2023 will have their final 6th and 7th grade report cards reviewed.)  Those students who meet the academic qualifications will be invited to join and the Induction Ceremony will be scheduled for mid-September.

The reasons for this change are two-fold.  First students are given a full year to demonstrate their academic performance to become eligible.  Secondly, a fall induction allows the club to kick off the school year formally while allowing members to better track their volunteer/service hours and activities.  As a school organization the BMS Jr. Beta Club Chapter is active during the district school year.

We are looking forward to our 2nd year and the many accomplished rising 7th graders we hope will join BMS Jr. Beta Club during the 2018-19 academic year.

*NOTE:  This is in accordance with our chapter bylaws which are in a PDF in the "Resources Locker" at right.

Beta Club End of Year Activities

We are off to a fantastic start with our Charter Membership year as a Junior Beta Club Chapter.  The members have engaged in many varied volunteer activities and continue to shine as leaders within our school and community.

As we begin to head in to the last quarter of the 2017-18 school year, time seems to move faster so we wanted to send out some information regarding our plans at this time.  I'm sure there are more activities and opportunities to volunteer that will come up as the end of the year progresses, however members may want to mark their calendars now for the following.

Saturday, March 17th - 10:00-2:00 p.m. "Paint the Dugouts"

All are welcome to come out and help us as we give the BMS baseball field (the one closest to BES) a bit of a facelift.

Friday, April 13th - 6:00 p.m.  "PTSA Silent Auction & Spaghetti Dinner"

BMS PTSA has requested student volunteers to assist with this fundraising event, sign up with the Sign Up Genius Link

Friday, April 27th - 6:00-9:00 p.m.  Beta Club Fundraising Dance

Our club has operated without a budget all year, membership dues went directly to the National Beta Club and t-shirt

payments paid for the shirts.  We need to make some money to pay for end of year recognition awards (and the costs of

our induction ceremony from last December).

Thursday, June 6th - 8:30 a.m.  6th/7th Grade Awards

Beta Club end of year awards will recognize students for their achievement during the grade level award ceremonies

                   rather than a separate event.

Friday, June 7th - 10:00 a.m. 8th Grade Awards

Beta Club awards will recognize outstanding achievement among 8th grade members during the grade level award

ceremony rather than at a separate event.
