Upcoming Math Concepts

November / December 2019

We are currently studying division with decimals. Recently, we learned how to divide with fractions (fractions dividing fractions, fractions divided by whole numbers and mixed numbers dividing mixed numbers). We also studied prime & composite numbers, GCF and LCM.

After Thanksgiving, we will continue moving forward with division & fractions and study the relationship of fractions to decimals to percents.

I'm also hoping we will have time to add in surface area but that may have to hold until after Winter Break.

6th Grade Parents' Guide to Surviving Middle School 101

For parents who could not attend attend the meeting, the link to the Powerpoint can be found on the BMS homepage!!

Middle School is sometimes an anxious place for parents too! Come join us September 18th from 6-7pm for a quick rundown of how to get the most out of middle school for both you and your child. 6th Grade teachers will be discussing: the basic schedule / what your child's day looks like (or why are they so tired at the end of the day??), requirements / expectations for each core class, how to stay in touch with the teachers, how to stay up to date on your child's grades, sports at BMS, academic opportunities at BMS, and many other topics.

Don't miss this great opportunity to get a rich understanding of your child's middle school life!

Homework

Homework Dec 9-16

Prodigy - various questions involving division and area

Total of 50 questions

All homework is written in students' planners by students. A copy of what is posted is also sent out via the Remind messages.

Homework will be given the first of the week and will be due the following week. All math classes begin with time to work on homework / ask the teacher questions about their homework. So between classtime and WIN/WIT times, there is more than ample time built into the schedule for students who do not have internet at home to complete homework. Homework not completed over the week period will be completed during WIN/WIT and/or lunch the following week. Students will also have silent lunch for missing or over half missing.
