Our Principal

All about Mr. Guthrie

Beaufort Middle School Principal Greg Guthrie is a Carteret County native.  Mr. Guthrie graduated from West Carteret High School in 1981, and after graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 1985, Mr. Guthrie began his teaching career teaching and coaching at Northwoods Park Middle School in Jacksonville. From there, Mr. Guthrie taught and coached in Maryland, and completed a Master’s Degree in Education from Towson State University.

Mr. Guthrie returned to Carteret County in 1993 as a teacher and coach at West Carteret High School until 2000. Mr. Guthrie completed a Master’s Degree in School Administration from East Carolina University in 2000, and served as an Assistant Principal in Craven County for 1 year before serving as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at East Carteret High School from 2000-2003.

From East Carteret, Mr. Guthrie was named Principal of Beaufort Middle School in January 2004, and served in that role until 2008. Mr. Guthrie served as Principal of Morehead City Primary School from 2008-2011, before returning to Beaufort Middle School for the 2011 school year. Currently, Mr. Guthrie lives in Morehead City with his wife Kathy and their son Dixon.
