Beta Club Founder's Day

We are celebrating 85 years of Beta!

You Are Awesome!

I wanted to take a moment and thank all of the Beaufort Middle Beta Club Members for their efforts in making the Beaufort Elementary School Fall Festival such a big success on Friday, October 18.

That Friday afternoon/evening was a difficult time for our BMS school community as we learned that we had lost one of our own.  The support you showed one another as well as your continued volunteer service demonstrated the character and integrity Beta members are known for.

Most importantly, I encourage you to DO SOMETHING GOOD, a worthy tribute to for anyone.

Clarification - New Traditions with Beta Club

As BMS moved from National Junior Honor Society affiliation to Junior Beta Club some of the organization practices have changed.  In prior years NJHS held a Spring Semester Induction Ceremony for new members.  Student eligibility for NJHS was evaluated based on academic performance from the first three quarters of the sixth grade year and students at the end of their sixth grade year were considered.

With the founding of a Junior Beta Club chapter at Beaufort Middle we began a new tradition of having our induction ceremonies in the Fall Semester.  This means that there will be no 2018 Spring Beta Club Induction Ceremony.*

Rather, at the beginning of the 2018-19 school year, the new 7th grade class as well as any transfer or newly eligible 8th grade students will be evaluated based on their cumulative grade point average for their middle school careers.  (I.E. Students in the class of 2024 will have their final 6th grade report card reviewed and students in the class of 2023 will have their final 6th and 7th grade report cards reviewed.)  Those students who meet the academic qualifications will be invited to join and the Induction Ceremony will be scheduled for mid-September.

The reasons for this change are two-fold.  First students are given a full year to demonstrate their academic performance to become eligible.  Secondly, a fall induction allows the club to kick off the school year formally while allowing members to better track their volunteer/service hours and activities.  As a school organization the BMS Jr. Beta Club Chapter is active during the district school year.

We are looking forward to our 2nd year and the many accomplished rising 7th graders we hope will join BMS Jr. Beta Club during the 2018-19 academic year.

*NOTE:  This is in accordance with our chapter bylaws which are in a PDF in the "Resources Locker" at right.
